Biography

​Jeffrey R. Schmieler is a founding member and managing partner at S&S. He has decades of experience practicing law and has distinguished himself as an outstanding lawyer and successful trial practitioner. 

​Jeffrey is an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated attorney, the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell®. He has been recognized as a "Top Rated Lawyer" in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Virginia and was featured in "Top Rated Lawyers: The Definitive Guide to Legal Representation", a publication that appeared in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and the Baltimore Sun.

Jeffrey has extensive experience in representing the interests of a broad spectrum of clientele and has actively been engaged as a highly successful trial lawyer for over 50 years.  A compilation of the reported Appellate decisions involving cases in which he was counsel both at trial and on appeal is set forth on the firm's Prospectus.

His areas of concentration include defense-based litigation, specifically in tort, breach of contract, product liability, premises liability, insurance coverage and defense, environmental & mass tort defense, construction defect, products liability defense, general defense and complex class actions. He has also engaged as insurance coverage counsel for many major domestic and foreign insurance carriers.

Jeffrey's business and transactional practice includes advising clients on corporate matters including entity formation, corporate governance, business disputes, and real estate transactions.

Jeffrey has also actively been engaged as a legal author and lecturer and has authored numerous legal publications as well as lectured extensively on a wide range of legal topics of interest to his clientele.

Personal Information

Jeffrey was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family.  On weekends, they love the outdoors where you'll find them hiking and boating. He is an alumni of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity where he served as President.
